Annual General Meeting
The AGM was held on 22nd June where the election of Officers took place. The guest speaker, Dr Audrey Champion, gave an interesting presentation on the history of the Cancer Centre and her career there since its opening. The Committee thanked Dr Champion for her commitment and involvement with The Appeal since its conception and gave their best wishes for her retirement.

Sylvia ford gave an interesting presentation on the Swallowing Workstation purchased by The Appeal.

Some of the London Marathon runners attended the meeting to accept certificates presented by The Appeal.

Charity table
The charity tables at Glan Clwyd Hospital raised £144.

Supermarket collections
Collections at ALDI Rhyl raised £73.45; Bayview Centre Colwyn Bay £136.64. Thank you to the management at Aldi and Bayview and everyone who gave their support.

Donations
Rhuddlan Environmental Group donated £450 which they raised through three local events; Gala Day & Community Centre event Rhuddlan and Carnival Day Prestatyn. Doris Roberts and Stevie Boyd were presented with the cheque by Mr Reg Davies, Mayor of Rhuddlan, at the R.E.G committee meeting, where Doris thanked the group for their generosity. Other donations have been received. Thank you to everyone.

London Marathon runners
The five runners who ran the London Marathon in April raised a total of £3665. Thank you to all this year’s runners and their supporters. The Appeal will apply for 5 places for the 2010 marathon. Each place costs The Appeal £250, therefore runners are asked to raise a minimum of £750 in sponsorship. Anyone interested in applying for a place should contact Doris Roberts Deputy Chairman/Secretary.

Coffee morning in The Cancer Centre at Glan Clwyd Hospital
A coffee morning is to be held on Saturday 20th June. This is to thank people who have made donations to The Appeal and volunteers who give their time to fundraising. Guests will be given a tour of The Cancer Centre to see some of the equipment purchased by The Appeal.

London Marathon 2009
We now have five runners who will be running on behalf of the Appeal and they are seeking sponsorship. All proceeds are directed to The North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre at Glan Clwyd Hospital.

New garden Scheme for The Cancer Treatment Centre
The Art Group are now meeting to discuss a garden scheme, with sculptures, water feature, plants and shrubs, for the new extension to The Cancer Treatment Centre. The garden will be created for the benefit of patients attending the Centre. The scheme will begin in 2009.

The Chairman and Committee of The Appeal offer their sincere condolences to Mr Sidney Blumsom for the sad loss of his beloved wife, Guinevere. Guinevere was a founder member of The Appeal and both she and Sid have made a significant contribution to its work. Guinevere will be sadly missed by us all.

A donation of £350, was presented to The Appeal by Mrs Margaret Sumner, a volunteer who has worked with The Appeal since its beginning. The donation was in celebration of Margaret’s 80th birthday. The Cancer Centre are in the process of ordering the new equipment which has been funded by The Appeal. This is high precision masks to be used for patients with head and neck cancer related illnesses and updating computer software for the continuous improvement in treatment plans for patients attending the centre.

As a tribute to the late Founder and Hon. President of the Appeal, Margaret, the committee have received permission to change the name of the Appeal and work continues as she would have wished.
