Our new Target
We have successfully raised more than £2 million, all of
which is spent or committed to buying items to help cancer patients at the
Cancer Centre. But there is
still a need for more resources. The Appeal has been asked to help purchase a
new CT Scanner.
(C,Computed,T,Tomography or display of sections). This scanner will
provide X-ray scans of any part of the body in multiple sections so that many
different types of abnormalities may be detected. It is a very powerful tool
for detecting or diagnosing many conditions including cancer. So, the Appeal
intends to fund at least £500,000 towards the cost of a new “state of the art”
CT Scanner. Also, it is clear that the treatment of patients places an ever
increasing demand upon the skills and knowledge of all the medical, clinical
and radiotherapy staff. They need
to enhance their expertise with specialised training and facilities to keep
abreast of the rapidly changing world of cancer treatment. The Appeal has
accepted the challenge to raise £200,000 devoted to this extra training which
will greatly benefit cancer patients.
So, to help fund these two items, the Appeal's new target is
£700,000.
But we know there is a constant need to help even further
beyond this.
